What is the obsession with HP'ing for a CLI???

Call this a rant a complaint, whatever.

I can not wrap my brain on idea of hardpulling someones credit when they can soft pull at any time and literally have access to the EXACT same info I can see everything I need to and more on Credit Karma and my Free Experian Report. Payment History, Derogs, AAoA, Inqs, Total Accounts, Util. And even down to the nitty gritty your limits on your cards your 24 month payment history. Everything. It just makes no sense to me when you have a customer whos with you already obviously if youre requesting a CLI and they have perfect payment history and their reports that you CAN see from a SP at any time that you "Require" a hard pull. I understand the underwriters dont make the rule. Maybe im totally wrong and someone can school me. Amex and Sync have it figured out!

POI I get and think they should be more stringent on im sure alot of others will disagree but to be able to just put a number on on a screen and they take your word for it is nonsense

Get a credit card with good CLI

I am new in US, due to the company where I work transferred me temporarly to our location here, unfortunately is difficult for someone to move to another country when you have stable your life in your country, and one thing hard for me is about geting credit, I had very good credit cards and limits where used to live, but here is quite difficult, also I did not know about credit scores (I learned a lot reading the forums), so once I arrived the company gave me a corporate card for 6 months until I can get my own credit record, so the 6 months have ended and I started applying for some credit cards, also I got one without asking Credit One (I heard not good comments about this card) I applied for an AMEX blue cash and was approved with 1,000, do you think by the moment is enough and start the garden, or I could apply still for a new one, I don't want too many inquieries by the moment in my credit record.

Thanks

Cap 1 CLI denial for a wrong reason

I've scoured my credit report to look for a recent delinquency that they reference, even talked to Equifax, and there is none. The reason they lost for no CLI is not true, and it's really irking me! My report is clean! I've got a 743 fico now. Gah!

So, moral of the story for me, is to call them, and then decide if I'm axing the card. Ugh!

State Department FCU INSTANT APPROVED

App'd for an Account with SDFCU on line and got the 'thank you for applying we will review your application' page after I completed the app.

I initially went to see if I could qualify for the secured CC they offer but wanted to become a member also so I did both.

After a couple hours I decided to check my status so I went to the SDFCU site (since they never sent me an email) and used the "check application status" button.

Entered the info they asked for and hit "submit"
INSTANT APPROVED for $2000.00 CC
But
REFERRED for Account.
Crazy... but I'll take it! (I'll call them Monday to get a solid confirmation on the CC) and ask what else is needed for the opening of an Account.

I'll keep you posted, I started this topic because finding info on CCs and approval scenarios with SDFCU is kinda tough here and not as talked about as other CUs.

Amex Preapproval Results

I have question about the Amex preapproval site.  I'm an Amex customer (Preferred cash card and Everyday card) . When i click on "Check for Prequalified credit card offers"  The results show up in tabs: "Featured Cards" "Travel Cards"  "Cash Back Cards".  Are the preapproved cards just the cards in the Featured Card section or am I preapproved for the cards in other tabs?

NFCU approval then status update to under review

Anyone every been approved by NFCU, only to get a follow up message that the application is being reviewed. I thought it was odd that the 'approval' did not contain a rate or cl, because that doesn't seem to be the norm based upon other approvals in the forums.

Long story short - Has anyone seen or heard of this? I have to assume this is a bad sign ...

Thanks in advance.

BBVA prequalified letter

Got one today in mail for the clearpoints. Researched it and sounds like their prequal, while not as good as preapproved, is pretty solid.

App’d, they sent me a code via text which I put in and they said they verified my indentity, long pause and then...denied. Sucky. They pulled my worst score - Experian at 649. No biggy but wasted an inquiry. Wish they wouldn’t market like that.

Hello to all,

Could anybody share or advise about Hilton Honors Aspire cards underwriting criteria?

I logged into my account last week and went to "all cards", clicked on Hilton and it said "Applying to expand your membership with us is easy..." nothing like "You are Pre-approved" so I applied and was declined, however, my platinum card I just got approved for used to say "You are preapproved"

I have had AMEX Cash Magnet for 7 months and just got platinum card, my current Experian Fico 08 is at 737 and Fico 09 at 760

7 inquiries and utili is at 6%

Please advise!Smiley Happy thanks.

Hey, helped a friend get a cli on 1/2/19.  the rep asked how much she wanted and I shot back $10k.  I asked if they adjust it high or low but the rep had no clue.  yesterday I got an tu hp alert, logged in and the $10K is in place.

I am now thinking I left money on the table, anyone have experience with these jokers?  thinking of calling back or writing them a note but want to strike while the iron is hot.

her credit is basically non-existent, 2 amex and this card 12/17, no credit history except a penfed auto refi, tu is 749 and she is in her 50s and makes $160K/yr.  usb checking and savings since 8/18, 20 ach payrolls in place.  the woman is a spender, $20K would be much better.

poke the bear or leave it?

thx

edit:  card has basically need not used because of the $ 500 limit, a little in the beginning but zero the past quarter

Prequalified for Amex Everyday but they asked for the 4605 form which was not sent to them so they cancelled the app. How long should one wait to reapply and will they continue to ask for the form? Thin file no derogs....

Bank of America Merrill Lynch+ Card CLI Denied

Sadly,  my 2019 started out like credit crapola and I just got the dreaded 7-10 denial letter message when I asked for a CLI to $100K.

I was hoping for an instant counteroffer between $75K-$90K. Smiley Sad

Going to call them tomorrow to recon a little if I can since last CLI was six months ago.

TU FICO 08 score was close to 800 as well.

Update:  I just got off the phone with a Senior BOA analyst (866-618-4585) and couldn't overturn the CLI denial because of the amount of credit I already have.

Do you think NFCU will give me a 90 day CLI with no increase in credit score?

I received my Navy Federal Signature card in the mail on 9/28. I had a 10k limit and have now started to use the card for everyday expenses and try to pay as much as I can off every pay check. So far I’ve had no increase in credit score; it started at a 579 and it’s still there. I’m curious if my credit score stays the same if they’d be willing to approve me for a CLI. I use the card a lot and try to keep my balance low, would that be enough to get approved?

Chase Sapphire Reserve App Weirdness

So this is a new one.

Scores are in the 730s-750s. Income is 170k. I applied for a CSR and a Freedom Unlimited same day and was denied for both. Automated line said 7-10 days so I called Chase recon. They told me that there is a Chase card that was reported as charged off in September 2015 on my report. I'd never even applied for a Chase card until August 2015, so that was impossible I thought (I've had that Freedom card in good standing ever since).

I had forgotten all about it, but apparently my buddy had added me as an AU to his Sapphire Preferred account in Jan 2015, and in September 2015, he PC'd this card to a Freedom after he upgraded his CSP to a CSR. I'm assuming the AU didn't transfer over, and the account was misreported as charged off on my credit report. The recon guy said there's nothing else wrong with my application, but their system won't allow them to approve anything with a charged-off account on the report. He gave me a direct number to call on Monday to get this sorted, so I'll be doing that with my buddy on the line.

My question is, does anyone know if I'll have to wait for them to send the update to the bureaus before I can call recon back, or will I be able to call recon immediately? I would *assume* Chase has some sort of internal system that they can check, but that might be wishful thinking. Thanks guys!

Edit:

So, after more research I'm really stumped as to why Chase even thinks this account is a charge off. It's not listed on my credit report as deliquent, it's simply marked as "Paid," and "Closed." Under Responsibility, it says "Terminated" which I assume is an AU-specific thing? Can anyone shed a little light here? I'm absolutely mystified.

Help!

I applied for A Citi Shell Mastercard on 1/2/2019 in which my credit file was locked so I knew it wouldnt be a instant approval. This also resulted in a HP, I called in and the Representative let me know my card was declined because my phone number wasnt listed. I waited a few days, got my phone number added to my credit file and called again, I was approved for the Shell Mastercard. This resulted in another HP and they actually double pulled both times. I receive an email 1/5/19 stating that I am approved for a Shell rewards card and as part of the application process, I was evaluated for one or more other cards, and I am declined for the Mastercard. Seems like they're downgrading my MC to Rewards has anyone heard of this? I logged into my account and two cards are now showing..

Chase FU app

So I applied for the Chase Freedom...

As the title states, i applied for the card two weeks ago online and wasnt approved or denied automatically.  This was the email i received just after applying "We have received your request for a Chase credit card. We'll let you know our decision as soon as possible. Thank you for choosing Chase."

Unfortunately nothing in terms of a time frame was mentioned. Until, i called the automated application stastus hotline and it gave me the 30 day message.....everyday now for two weeks and it hasn't changed. I tried viewing the application status on chase's website and it says "No Application Activity". The reason why im concerned is because I already applied for it back in feburary 2018 and was given the same 30 day message . The only difference was i called the bank and they told me it was denied for lack of credit history and a high balance. At the time I was still under my brothers AU account with Amex and he was carrying a 6k balance (closed that account). I just got my first credit card with amex (blue cash everyday 5k CL) in november 2017. So the credit history was still extremely thin. I then opened my second credit card account with capitol one (platinum 1k CL) in August 2018 to help strengthen my credit foundation. I am currently at 726 Exp, 726TU and 720EQ with 1yr and 1 month credit history on oldest account. No late payments, no baddies..etc, just 3 hard pulls on each bureau.

What do you guys think is going on? I've never heard anyone in anyone forums or youtube videos say they had to wait more than a week and a half for a change in time (2 week or 7-10 day) or a result. Should I just wait it out or should I just call recon? Anyone have a similar experience?
